Pleasantville 0
Colin O’Shea and Tommy Bradway scored on short runs in the first quarter, and Brett Edmunds ripped off a 90-yard touchdown run in the second to lead Mainland Regional to a season-opening win at Pleasantville in an interconference game.
The Mustangs added a fourth touchdown in the third quarter when quarterback Dylan Swenson connected with Tim Reed for a 17-yard score.
“We’ll take a good season-opening win,” Mainland coach Bob Coffey said. “Pleasantville played their hearts out. We respect them and they did a great job.”
Pleasantville coach David Dudley said he expects to be competitive this season with a young roster of only four seniors.
“This is one of the two toughest games on our schedule,” Dudley said. “We feel we can beat everybody else. I have confidence in our defense, and I have confidence in our young guys. We just have to learn how to win.”
Edmunds led the Mustangs with a touchdown and 149 yards on four carries. He had two big runs, one for 50 yards, and the 90-yard score.
