Lacey Township’s Bill Belford caught a 58-yard touchdown pass with time running out as the Lions edged Brick Township 6-3 to clinch the Shore Conference A-South title on Friday night.

Brick scored first with Anthony Starego’s 33-yard field goal right before the half.

Brick Township held on to that lead for most of the second half and late in the fourth quarter marched down to the Lacey 15-yard line.

But Lacey stopped the Green Dragons on fourth-and -inches and took over.

With 30 seconds left, sophomore quarterback Connor Davies found Kyle Spatz for a 20-yard pass.

Then with six seconds left, Belford caught the ball at the Lacey 30-yard line, cut to the sideline and ran in for the winning touchdown with no time remaining.

The Lions, No. 3 in The Press Elite 11, remain undefeated and are in position to take the No. 1 seed in the South Jersey Group IV playoffs.
