Matt McLain ran for 340 yards and scored six touchdowns, including one on a 70-yard interception return, as Pinelands Regional High School beat visiting Toms River South 56-13 in a Shore Conference football game Friday night.

McLain, a senior running back and cornerback, surpassed the 2,000-yard rushing mark for the season. He has rushed for at least 200 yards in seven of the Wildcats' eight games and has three 300-yard performances. He leads the area with 22 touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver Jake Hartman added two touchdowns for the Wildcats (5-3). Hartman's first TD came on a 65-yard end-around run in the second quarter. In the third, he caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Mike Keller in the back of the end zone.

Hartman and linebacker Bobby Schwarzenberger also had interceptions for Pinelands, which outscored Toms River South 28-0 in the second half. Tyler Munson made 8-of-8 extra-point kicks.

Toms River South fell to 0-8.
