Running back Bill Shimko scored on a 7-yard pass from Southern Regional quarterback Eric Sullivan to help the Rams pull away from Freehold Township in the fourth quarter of the Shore Conference A South game.
Shimko rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries, and also made one of two key second-half interceptions to keep Freehold off the scoreboard. Joe Fiorelli had the other. T.J. Bellissimo scored on a 10-yard run for the Rams.
Defensive tackle Ryan Boyle stopped a Freehold fourth-down run at Southern's 14-yard line in the first quarter. In the final quarter, defensive end Alex Cattelona stopped Freehold on a fourth down after the Patriots faked a punt.
