St. Augustine Prep's Dustin Thomas threw three touchdowns and broke Tom Reilly's southern New Jersey career record of 64 as the Hermits beat Pleasantville 48-18 on Friday in a Cape-Atlantic League National Conference football game.

Thomas, a senior who has verbally committed to play football at Villanova University, has thrown 67 touchdowns over the last four seasons. Reilly, a Holy Cross graduate, held the record since 2007.

On the record breaker, Thomas dropped back and lobbed a 32-yard pass to James Goodroe as he ran a fade pattern to the back of the end zone.

"It felt great to see (Goodroe's) eyes light up." Thomas said, "But I was just happy to get (the record) over with. I'd rather just see our team do well. I'm just glad the line blocked the way they did and my recievers helped me get there."

St. Augustine Prep, No. 3 in The Press' Elite 11, improved to 7-0 with a big conference showdown looming next Friday against second-place Holy Spirit (6-1).

"Holy Spirit's a good team," Thomas said. "We're going to need to play our best football to win."

Pleasantville (1-6), which only trailed 14-6 at halftime, plays at Lower Cape May Regional next Saturday.
