Vance Matthews scored on an 85-yard punt return to put Lower Cape May on the board in the second quarter of a nonleague game, won y Cape Henlopen (Del.) on Saturday.
The Caper Tigers' second touchdown came later in the second quarter on a 60-yard pass by Matt Mulligan to Jordan Hazel.
Lower and Cape Henlopen play each year for the Commissioner's Cup.
The schools, located at opposite ends of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, fight for the trophy presented by the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
Cape Henlopen's Jerome Johnson ran for three touchdowns, including a 45-yard run to open scoring.
