Millville High School football coach Jason Durham was selected as the 2012 Edward T. Byrnes Coach of the Year on Sunday by the South Jersey chapter of the National Football Foundation at the annual banquet held at the Carriage House in Galloway Township.

In four years at Millville, Durham is 23-19 with two South Jersey Group IV playoff appearances. This past season, the Thunderbolts went 11-1 and reached the S.J. Group IV championship game.

Durham is a health and physical education teacher at the school. Former Millville athletic director Tony Surace presented the award.

The banquet each year honors area high school coaches, scholar athletes and football supporters.

Byrnes, a former Holy Spirit coach, was a founding member of the foundation's South Jersey chapter. He died in 1996.

The NFF has 120 chapters in 47 states.
