Inside Ocean City: The Red Raiders are the state Group III champions. They won the program’s first state championship with defense. Ocean City did not allow an opponent to score more than 40 points in all five of its state tournament wins. The Red Raiders are trying to become the first Cape-Atlantic League girls team to win a TOC game since Absegami beat Rumson-Fair Haven 62-50 in a 2006 quarterfinal.
Inside Red Bank Catholic: The Caseys are the state Non-Public A and Shore Conference champions. They are undefeated against New Jersey teams, losing only to Moore Catholic of Staten Island, N.Y. Red Bank Catholic also relies on defense, allowing a little more than 35 points per game. The Caseys won the TOC in 1996 and 2000.
Keys to victory: Both teams emphasize defense, so the first team to 40 could win. The key could be which team comes ready to play and does not have a let down after the thrill of winning a state title.
