Raconelli posted an 11-3 major decision over Mount Olive's Ronald Spears in the first round of wrestlebacks. He gained a 5-1 lead in the second period, then had a five-point move in the third to take command.

Raconelli earned another win in the next round with a 5-1 decision over Terrence Davis, of St. John Vianney. Raconelli grabbed a 4-1 lead with takedowns in the first two periods and added an escape in the third.

Raconelli suffered a last-second loss to Bergen Catholic's Joe Grello in the consolations. Grello scored a controversial takedown with two seconds remaining in regulation to win 3-2.

Friday

Raconelli moved into the wrestlebacks with a 3-2 loss to South Plainfield's Inan Sikel in the prequartefinals. Sikel grabbed a 3-1 lead in the second period. Raconelli escape to close within a point, but came up short of a go-ahead takedown.

Racanelli’s road to Atlantic City: Won his first District 24 and Region 6 titles.

Back points: Racanelli has a bye in the prelims after winning his first region title and will likely face second-seeded Ed Lenkowski of Clearview Regional in the pre-quarters. Lenkowski’s only loss this season came to St. Augustine Prep’s Jack Clark in the Region 8 final.
