- Absecon - A parade begins at the American Legion Post at 10:30
a.m. Saturday at New Jersey Avenue and Mill Road and ends at the
firehouse for a ceremony. Various politicians will be on hand. An
F-16 will fly over as part of the dedication for a mural on the
firehouse wall that honors the 343 firefighters who died. A new
firefighter statue in the little park outside the station also will
- Atlantic City - There will be a 9/11 observance Saturday at
Asbury United Methodist Church, 1213 Pacific Ave. The church is
open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with recorded music for reflection. At
noon, Pastor Gilbert Caldwell will read the words of Pastor Myrna
Bethke of The United Methodist Church of Red Bank who lost a
brother at the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Visitors may come and
leave as their schedules permit,
- Egg Harbor Township - A 9/11 Memorial Service will be held at 6
p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Park Monument at Swift Drive
and Ocean Heights Avenue near the Atlantic County Library. The
service is planned by the Egg Harbor Township Veterans Advisory
- Galloway Township - The William J. Hughes Center for Public
Policy of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway
Township will bring former Gov. Thomas H. Kean, who co-chaired the
federal government's 9/11 Commission, to the campus to interview
John Farmer Jr., senior counsel to the commission and author of
"The Ground Truth: The Untold Story of America Under Attack on
9/11." The event, "A Revealing Look at 9/11" will take place at 6
p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the Elizabeth B. Alton Auditorium. The
event is free and open to the public.
- Somers Point - 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Saturday
at Somers Point Patriot Park at Bethel Road and First Street. Honor
guards representing all branches of the military will present the
colors, and the ceremony will include bagpipers, taps and gun
salute. Bob Campanell will sing the national anthem. The fire bell
will be sounded at 8:46 a.m. and 9:02 a.m., corresponding with the
exact times the planes struck the Twin Towers. The event is planned
by AMVETS Post 911.
- Cape May Court House - Cape May County will hold its ninth
annual Patriot Day at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cape May County
administration building at 4 Moore Road.
- North Wildwood - A ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday
at City Hall, 10th and Atlantic avenues.
- North Wildwood - St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 321 St.
Demetrios St., will hold a ceremony after liturgy Sunday. A floral
wreath will be placed in the Atlantic Ocean in memory of the
- Wildwood Crest - A ceremony will be held at Turtlegut Park,
Miami and New Jersey avenues, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The borough
was once home to Andrew Alameno, who was killed in the World Trade
- Millville - A service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at
Riverfront Park at Buck and Main streets. The public is invited to
join in prayers of remembrance and patriotic songs.
- Vineland - A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday
in front of City Hall, 640 E. Wood St. The city has received a
remant of the World Trade Center for dedication.
- Vineland - Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will formally present remnants
from the World Trade Center to Mayor Robert Romano at 4:30 p.m.
Monday on the front steps of City Hall.
