The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for all of South Jersey, which is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday.

More thunderstorms likely as an unsettled pattern lasts through the weekend

As promised, Wednesday delivered a modest reprieve from the oppressive heat and humidity. Highs remained around or just below 90 degrees, and the humidity eased just a bit.

Flash flood watch issued for all of South Jersey

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for all of South Jersey, which is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday evening.

THURSDAY► A mix of clouds and hazy sunshine, with scattered thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon and evening.  Very warm and humid with highs around 85 to 90, with a light southerly breeze around 10-15mph.  More widespread showers and thunderstorms expected overnight, and flash flood watches are in effect for all of South Jersey through Friday.

FRIDAY► Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy downpours, lingering through the morning hours.  Drier in the afternoon with perhaps some breaks of hazy sun.  Warm and humid with highs in the mid 80s.  Southeast winds around 10-15mph shifting from the west by afternoon.

SATURDAY► A drier interlude with a mix of sun and clouds.  Just the small chance of a pop-up thunderstorm, otherwise mainly dry and the better weeken day.  Still humid and seasonably warm with highs in the low to mid 80s.  A light onshore breeze, from the northeast then southeast around 10mph.

SUNDAY► Mostly cloudy and humid with another few rounds of showers and thunderstorms, especially the first part of the day.  Highs in the low to mid 80s, with a light onshore breeze.

EARLY NEXT WEEK► Partly sunny, drier, and pleasant with no 90-degree heat expected.  Seasonably warm with highs in the low(shore) to mid(mainland) 80s, with light sea-breezes along the beaches and boardwalks.
