Angela Burton, an Atlantic City native and resident, is joining a list of entertainers that includes Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie who have received a key to the resort.

Mayor Don Guardian plans to present the honor to Burton at 3 p.m. Thursday inside City Hall. Earlier this year, Burton received the Atlantic City Hometown Hero award.

Burton has done more than 30 overseas tours in 35 different countries for the U.S. Department of Defense, performing in Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Burton began touring Army bases in 1972 and started going overseas in 1981. During the 1990s, her band performed more outside the country than locally.

Burton opened for many headlining acts at the legendary Club Harlem on Kentucky Avenue before it was torn down in 1992.

Burton and her band, Passion, have performed at many Atlantic City events, locations and venues, including the Kentucky Avenue Renaissance Festival, Gardner’s Basin and Kelsey’s restaurant on Pacific Avenue.
