Get a step closer to the health resolutions you set for yourself at the beginning of the year during Shore Medical Center’s Cardio Challenge at Greate Bay Racquet & Fitness Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The second annual event, designed by trainers at Greate Bay, recognizes American Heart Month and is open to all fitness levels. The competition is divided into three fitness tracks — beginner, intermediate and advanced.

In the beginners track, complete as many squats, modified push-ups and sit ups as you can in a minute each for the chance to win a free one-hour private training session and a free drink from the juice bar.

For the intermediate level, participants will perform one squat thrust and run to the wall and back, repeating for two minutes, with the winner being the participant who can complete the most rounds. The Intermediate winner will receive a $25 voucher to the Blue Wave Spa and a free drink at the juice bar.

Finally, in the advanced track, participants will complete one burpee, then run to the wall and back, with the winner being the participant who can complete the most rounds in two minutes. The advanced winner will receive a free one-hour private training session and a free drink from the juice bar.

Stop by the gym and compete any time between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. While there, be sure to visit with representatives from Shore Medical Center, Penn Cardiology and Shore Physicians Group, who will offer free nutrition tips, wellness information and blood pressure screenings from 8 to 10 a.m. and 5 and 7 p.m.

Access to the challenge is free for all participants. Greate Bay Racquet & Fitness is located at 90 Mays Landing Road in Somers Point. Go to or
