The annual Community Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 21 at Heritage Park. (Please note the time change from previous years). All are welcome to come to this ecumenical service. Clergy from several churches will be leading the service with Fr. Terry O'Connor of St. Marks & All Saints Church offering this year's sermon.
The service will also feature a burned offering to God of prayers, concerns, dedications and personal resolutions written on notepaper and collected during open chapel hours on Good Friday, April 19, at Absecon United Methodist Church, Absecon Presbyterian Church and St. Mark's and All Saints Episcopal Church in Galloway (see schedule below). Notepaper will be available before the sunrise service as well.
Maundy Thursday, April 18:
7 p.m. -- Absecon United Methodist Church, 100 Pitney Rd, will host a Maundy Thursday communion service with Pastor Drew Mangione of Absecon Presbyterian Church preaching.
7 p.m. -- St. Mark's & All Saints Episcopal Church, 429 S. Pitney Road, Galloway, will host a washing of the feet and Holy Eucharist, followed by a stripping of the altar and church.
Good Friday, April 19:
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. -- Absecon United Methodist church will open its chapel on the corner of W. Church St. and Pitney Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for prayer and contemplation.
Noon -- St. Mark's & All Saints Episcopal Church will have a noon service with veneration of the cross.
Noon to 3 p.m. -- Absecon Presbyterian Church will hold a time of prayer and contemplation with the reading of the seven last words, or sayings, of Jesus on the Cross read at different times during this open chapel prayer time.
Noon to 3 p.m. -- St. Mark's & All Saints Episcopal Church will open its sanctuary for visitation and prayer.
7 p.m. -- St. Mark's & All Saints Episcopal Church will have its Mass of the Pre-Sanctified.
