Lori McCloskey loves her home at 4 Otter Lane in Egg Harbor Township as much as she does living on a lakefront in the Beaver Lakes Community.
“The way our house is laid out when you walk in, you are greeted by the grand entry, the formal living room and the view of the water,” McCloskey said.
McCloskey is selling her home for $599,000. The house generates a tax bill of $13,210 annually.
When McCloskey bought the house in 2004, only one person had lived in the home previously and only for one year.
The over-sized four bedroom and three full bath rancher has had numerous upgrades over the past 14 years that McCloskey has owned the home.
The house’s exterior features custom brick surrounding the entire exterior of home, brick pavers in the driveway and patio, a floating dock with a paddle boat, video cameras in the front and rear, a lifetime roof shingle, lightning rods and a nine-zone sprinkler system.
The house interior includes: two-zone central air conditioning; heated flooring; tumble marble in the living room, kitchen and game room; 10-foot ceilings and 8-foot doors; central security for fire and police; instant hot water with a recirculating pump; and a water softener system.
The kitchen offers all granite countertops, custom 42-inch cabinets including stained glass design, upgraded DCS hood range, Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher, under counter wine cooler and DCS commercial stainless steel appliances with barbecue grill and griddle.
The large master bedroom provides views of the lake, with an over-sized master bath with his and her cherry / marble top vanities, stall shower and jetted tub.
McCloskey said her house is best suited for homeowners who like to entertain because of the three outdoor paver patios in the back.
“We don’t do much entertaining ourselves, but you do have the space with the formal living room,” McCloskey said. “We converted the dining room to a game room because our family likes to play pool and listen to the jukebox.”
When McCloskey’s children were younger, they used to love to fish there, but now, they are away at college.
“I have really enjoyed the lake. The kids liked to paddle boat and kayak. You can also watch nature. We get a lot of blue heron. You can watch them on the dock looking for fish, watching the osprey, the egrets. We have swans. We have spotted eagles there, but they are not as frequent as the swans, the egrets and the blue herons,” McCloskey said.
One of the advantages of living in this section of Egg Harbor Township is the proximity to the Ocean City beaches, which is only 10 minutes away, and the nightlife and fine restaurants of Atlantic City, which is only 20 minutes away, McCloskey said.
Each house in the Beaver Lakes Community development, which is close to the Harbor Pines Golf Club and the municipality’s border with Somers Point, has its own individual character, and the houses vary in age as well, McCloskey said.
“That’s what I like about our community, it isn’t cookie cutter. All the houses are unique,” McCloskey said.
