WOODBINE — A 38-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 49 near Second Avenue about 12:40 p.m Saturday, according to State Police.

Mario Carlo Jr., of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, was driving a Honda CR-V westbound on Route 49 when a Mercedes Sprinter limousine bus traveling eastbound crossed the center line and struck his vehicle, police said.

Carlo attempted to get out of the limo bus’s way, but the front of the limo bus struck the driver’s side of his car, police said. Both vehicles spun, and the CR-V overturned.

State Police were withholding the limo driver’s identification Saturday night for investigative reasons, a spokeswoman said. That driver was taken to Shore Memorial Hospital by Upper Township EMS with minor injuries.

Carlo was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:47 p.m.

Route 49 remained closed during the investigation at the scene, and traffic was detoured.

No charges had been filed in the ongoing investigation.
