On Friday night at St. Augustine Prep field, two of the top teams in New Jersey will meet in a classic matchup of rivals. The No. 14th ranked Hermits hope to stop Spirit’s (No. 22nd) high-powered offense. The Spartans are coming off an impressive 40-13 win over Washington Township.

Spartan quarterback Ryan Yost threw for 5 touchdowns, tying a local record. Ryan leads all area passers with 12 scores. Receivers Ahmad Brown and Alvaro Lovato are among the area’s leaders.

Yost is complemented by running back Elijah Gray, who is among the scoring leaders with 50 points in 5 games. Local soph Devon Lee has also scored a couple TDs as Gray’s back up.

The Prep knocked off highly regarded Rancocas Valley last week 28-0. Freshman Nasir Hill ran for 174 yards and a touchdown, and senior quarterback Chris Allen threw a pair of scoring passes, both to senior wide receiver Jaylen DeCoteau. The Hermits will go into Friday night’s fray as the favorite.

Julia Kline (Atlantic City High School) stroked an 87 for Stevenson at the Millersville Invitaionals.

Madison Condurso and Emily Monacello contributed wins in Atlantic City High School’s 5-0 tennis victory over Pleasantville.
