Monster Mash Run/Walk
The Margate Education Foundation and Margate Recreation Department will host a Monster Mash 1-Mile Spooky Family Fun Run/Walk 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the Municipal Building, 9001 Winchester Ave. The run/walk starts at the old Union Avenue School parking lot and ends at Eugene A. Tighe Middle School. Registration is 3:30 p.m. Fee is $10 per person or $50 per family. Halloween costumes are encouraged. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Tighe School, and there will be Jenga, spike ball and cornhole games. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and fastest runner. VECC Halloween Parade
The Ventnor Home and School Association will present the annual VECC Halloween parade around the school 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. Schoolchildren will dress in costume and parade outside before enjoying treats in the gym.

This year’s ceremony will recognize Longport’s sole Medal of Honor recipient, the late Brigadier General Thomas Cruse, U.S. Army, who had retired in Longport about 70 years ago. The Ventnor Senior Transportation Service provides free rides to the market, bank, beauty salon, doctor's office or lab in Longport, Margate and Ventnor to Ventnor residents age 60 or older without serious handicaps.
