Hessam Abrishami to exhibit paintings, drawings at Ocean Galleries

Abstract expressionist Hessam Abrishami will exhibit a collection of paintings, drawings and sketches titled "Colors of Romance" over Labor Day weekend at Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor. He will be making gallery appearances and sign purchased artwork at receptions 7-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2 and 3.

For years, the Persian artist has created images that capture an essence of love, according to a press release from the gallery.

Abrishami studied art in Italy, completing his master’s degree in fine arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vanucci. Greatly influenced by modern masters from Cezanne to Picasso, and ancient history surrounding him in his childhood, he developed a style that results in boldly colorful paintings reflecting love and laughter, music and dance.

Ocean Galleries at 9618 Third Avenue also offers a variety of handmade crafts from local, regional and national artists including glass, pottery, jewelry and furniture. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily through Sept. 3 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily after Labor Day. Ocean Galleries at 2199 Ocean Drive in Avalon is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Labor Day.
