MAYS LANDING — More than $200,000 was raised for students during the 35th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala last week at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City.

The event, which showcases the offerings of 40 of the area’s top restaurant as well as the work of Academy of Culinary Arts students, is the college’s top fundraiser, this year raising $214,400.

In addition to scholarships for culinary arts students, the gala proceeds benefit an emergency fund for students and operations of the Atlantic Cape Foundation.

Each year at the gala several winners take home cash prizes from the 50/50 raffle. This year’s winners were Jennie Ayres, of Mays Landing; Mary Elizabeth Marler, of Northfield; and Lee Budd, of Ocean View, who split $21,600.

Honorees this year included Academy of Culinary Arts graduate Chef Georgeann Leaming, head chef of Gordon Ramsay Pub & Kitchen located in Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino; and Kevin Ortzman, regional president for Caesars Entertainment.
