AtlantiCare has awarded grants to 60 South Jersey schools to support school garden and wellness activi-ties.

The AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children program gave elementary, middle and high schools in Atlantic, Cape May and Ocean counties mini-grants totaling $51,000 for the 2017-18 school year.

“We’re excited to continue supporting school gardening programs by awarding these mini-grants,” said Laura Engelmann, AtlantiCare community health and wellness manager.

AtlantiCare established the Healthy Schools, Healthy Children program in 2005 and is now partnered with 114 schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
