PLEASANTVILLE — For the third time since July, the Pleasantville Board of Education failed to reach a quorum for its regularly scheduled meeting.

The school board was set to vote Tuesday on removing member Elysa Sanchez for failure to complete required personal, relative and financial disclosure forms, among other items.

The meeting failed to get started, however, as only three members of the nine-member board arrived at the 6 p.m. start time.

Board President Carla Thomas and board members Anny Melo and Bernice Couch were in attendance, along with Superintendent Clarence Alston and Business Administrator Elisha Thompkins. Also present was state-appointed fiscal monitor Constance Bauer.

After waiting several minutes for more members to arrive, Thompkins announced the quorum of five members was not going to be met and that the meeting would be rescheduled for 5 p.m. Monday.

Meetings in July and August were also rescheduled due to a lack of a quorum.
