GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Stockton University welcomed its largest freshmen class ever Friday for the 2017-18 school year.

About 1,590 freshmen have enrolled for the fall semester, a 30 percent increase over last year’s 1,190 freshmen, said Stockton spokeswoman Diane D’Amico.

“It’s the biggest class ever,” D’Amico said.

Nearly 900 freshmen are taking advantage of on-campus living this year, moving into dorm rooms Friday. D’Amico said there are a total of 2,900 beds available to all students on both the main campus and at the Seaview resort.

In addition to freshmen, this year there are 980 new transfer students, she said.
