PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The freshman went 23-5 in his debut season with the Panthers at first singles. He helped lead the team to a South Jersey Group I title and fourth consecutive Cape-Atlantic League National Conference title. Gilbert also earned All-South Jersey Group I honors.
The senior went 26-4 this season despite an injury that hindered him for the first month of the regular season. He was recognized as All-South Jersey in Group III by the New Jersey Tennis Association.
The senior also made it to the second round of the South Jersey Individual Tournament and will attend The College of New Jersey next year. He won his 100th career match this season.
Kilibarda was the Press Tennis Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017.
St. Augustine Prep
The junior defeated two time defending champion Kilibarda 6-4, 7-5 in the Cape-Atlantic League singles championship finals this season after going down 4-1, 5-2. St. Augustine made it to the finals of the South Jersey Non-Public A tournament. Guinta was 24-7 this season.
Brayden Carr and Tathya Modi
Tathya Modi and Brayden Carr, both seniors, defeated Mountain Lake’s first doubles team in the semifinals of the state Group I Tournament 6-0, 6-2. Modi had a personal record of 26-1 this season and ended his career 59-9. Carr went 27-2 and ends his career 63-8. Both seniors were a part of the Panthers’ 2016 team that won a South Jersey title.
Mark Ritchie and Vince Coiro
St. Augustine Prep
The young duo won the CAL doubles championship over their own second doubles team. Ritchie, a sophomore, and Coiro, a freshman, were both in their first year on the varsity squad with the Hermits. They were 23-5 this season.
