An Absecon man who had more than 1,000 images of child pornography was arrested and charged Friday, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.

Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Task Force arrested Carlos Santiago, 27, Friday morning after a 7-month-long investigation.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

Santiago possessed child pornography images on various media devices and distributed several of the images and videos through his account on Kik, an instant messaging mobile app, officials said.

Santiago is being held at the Atlantic County jail. The Prosecutor’s Office is moving to detain him, Tyner said.

Anyone with information involving serious crimes can call the Prosecutor’s Office at 609-909-7800 or call Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
