Dec. 1 marks the end of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, which saw strong storms batter portions of the U.S., but mostly spared South Jersey.

The season's focus first went to the Gulf states, as back-to-back Hurricanes Harvey and Irma took aim at Texas and Florida.

Hurricanes Jose and Maria spread destruction in the Caribbean, then made their way up the Atlantic Coast, but pulled away just enough not to be major threats to the Mid-Atlantic.
