Longport and Egg Harbor Township firefighters responded to a boat fire between two Seaview Harbor houses shortly before 5:30 p.m. today.

The fire was under control and most personnel had left the scene by 6 p.m., but the incident was near the entrance of the residential area causing delays along Longport Bridge.

Police said the boat and the two houses it was between were damaged, but no injuries were reported. The fire melted the siding of both houses.

The fire was ruled accidental.

The top half of the boat was badly burned, and a firefighter was using a chainsaw to cut into it at about 6 p.m. There was a "for sale" sign in front of the boat.
