Morning fire damages EHT eatery

A fire that damaged Ref’s Tap House & Grille in Egg Harbor Township has been deemed suspicious, police said this morning.

Police and fire investigators with the township, along with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, are investigating.

The fire was reported at about 5:09 a.m. on Wednesday when the Washington Avenue eatery was closed.

Authorities found flames coming through the roof and extinguished the blaze in 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

Ref’s Tap House is the former Diamond Diner.

Anyone with information on this fire is asked to call the Egg Harbor Township Police Department at 609 926 4051.
