VINELAND — Police are investigating the discovery of a mans' body Thursday afternoon in a wooded area off Park Avenue.

Police received a call about the man's body about 2:15 p.m. in the wooded area off Park Avenue between Sixth and Seventh avenues, said Lt. Pedro Casiano Friday morning.

Police know the man's identity but cannot release it until officers notify family members, Casiano said. Casiano said the victim was a white man in his 20s.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death was to be conducted later Friday at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, Casiano said.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office assisted at the scene Thursday.
