Roadway Flooding Atlantic City

Flooding in Marvin Garden, Atlantic City. This flooding was caused by heavy rain, not coastal flooding. Image via  on Twitter.

It will be short lived, but one round of coastal flooding will be expected on Friday evening. The National Weather Service has deemed the threat high enough to issue a coastal flood advisory for most of South Jersey.

The advisory includes Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties, in effect between 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Waters will be in minor flood stage, though well into it. High tides on the ocean front occur between 5 p.m to 6 p.m., happening later in the back bays. Up to 6 inches of salt water inundation will be expected along the first block or two of bayside roadways. No damage to life or property will be expected.

If you see a flooded roadway, turn around, don't drown. In addition, this is salt water, which damages vehicles that go through it. Examples of places that will have water on them include.

Ocean County

- Beach Haven West

Atlantic County

- White Horse Pike between Atlantic City and Absecon

- Black Horse Pike in West Atlantic City

- West Atlantic City

- West End Avenue between Atlantic City and Ventnor

- Bay Avenue in Somers Point
