ATLANTIC CITY — Police arrested nine men and seized more than 60 bags of heroin and other drugs Wednesday, the Police Department said Friday.

Detectives conducted a surveillance operation Wednesday targeting the 1300 and 1700 blocks of Atlantic Avenue in response to complaints from the public, Sgt. Kevin Fair said in a news release.

Besides the heroin, detectives recovered 166 grams of marijuana, more than 6 grams of cocaine and 19 ecstasy pills, as well as $2,500 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales, Fair said.

Iakeem Brown, 28, of Philadelphia, was charged with being a fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania, four counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone.

Ricky Gilliard, 20, of Atlantic City, was charged with possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone and contempt of court.

Brown and Gilliard were sent to the Atlantic County jail.

Jeffrey Bell, 43, of Philadelphia, was charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts each of possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone.

Javon Figueroa, 24, of Galloway Township, was charged with possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone and distribution of CDS.

Jordan Wilson, 18, of Atlantic City, was charged with possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone.

Joshua Tripp, 24, of Egg Harbor Township, was charged with possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone and distribution of CDS.

Frederick Moran, 36, of Voorhees, Camden County, was charged with possession of CDS.

Steven Solomon, 51, of Ventnor, was charged with possession of CDS.

Michael Love, 43, of Atlantic City, was charged with possession of CDS.

The above seven men were released on summonses, Fair said.
