ATLANTIC CITY — Police used a Taser on a 30-year-old man who allegedly assaulted another man and was resisting arrest Wednesday.

Thomas Jones, of Camden, was arrested after assaulting a 56-year-old Pleasantville man with a “ blunt object” about 9:30 p.m and fleeing the scene, police said.

Officers on Wednesday night responded to a report of a large fight at Connecticut and Drexel avenues. An officer found Jones walking in the 1100 Block of Baltic Avenue covered in blood and holding a “sharp, blunt object,” authorities said.

Police said Jones “refused the officers’ many orders to stop and was rambling incoherently.”

Officer Justin Draper used a Taser on Jones, who was resisting arrest and tried to get into the driver’s seat of a police vehicle, police said.

Jones was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.

Both the victim and Jones were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Jones was released on a summons.
