TRENTON — An Egg Harbor Township man pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to receiving child pornography, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

Matthew Wolny, 40, admitted receiving images depicting child sex abuse before U.S. District Judge Brian R. Martinotti. He was arrested and charged June 6.

While living in Jackson Township, Ocean County, in September 2013, Wolney used peer-to-peer file-sharing software, which he had installed on his computer, to download video files containing images of child sexual abuse from the internet to his computer hard drive, Carpenito said in a statement.

Wolny could serve between five and 20 years in prison and pay a fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for April 8, 2019.

Law-enforcement involved in the investigation included special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
