GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — A township man was charged May 20 after police allegedly found him in possession of more than 500 bags of heroin.

Jeffrey C. Martin, 28, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute.

At 10:34 a.m., police received a call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing a drug deal near South New York and Moss Mill roads, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

Officers found the car that was described in the tip and after a search found more than 500 bags of heroin, according to the post.

Martin was released on a summons.

My beat is public safety, following police and crime. I started in January 2018 here at the Press covering Egg Harbor and Galloway townships. Before that, I worked at the Reading Eagle in Reading, Pa., covering crime and writing obituaries.
