VENTNOR — An Atlantic City bicyclist was taken to the hospital Thursday after she was hit by a Jeep, police said.
A 2007 Jeep Wrangler operated by Joseph Pasquale, 70, of Ventnor, was traveling south on Cambridge Avenue, police said. Upon entering the intersection with Atlantic Avenue, the Jeep struck a bicyclist that was riding west on Atlantic, police said.
Mary Alice McCloskey, 65, was thrown from her bicycle, police said. Her injuries were described as moderate.
McCloskey was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center by Ventnor City Fire Department ambulance personnel, police said.
Pasquale was not injured. Atlantic Avenue was closed for about 30 minutes, police said.
Investigators determined McCloskey failed to observe the red traffic signal at the intersection, police said.
McCloskey was issued a summons for failing to observe a traffic control device, police said.
