LOWER TOWNSHIP — Authorities are investigating a Saturday afternoon plane crash at Cape May County Airport that left the pilot injured. At 3:31 p.m., police received a report of a plane crash. By the time officers arrived, the pilot was out of the single-engine aircraft with very minor injuries, police said. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, police said.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified, responded to the scene and will be leading the investigation into the crash, police said.
The Erma Volunteer Fire Company, Villas Fire Department and Lower Township Rescue also responded.
