EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Donald J. Trump has become a lightning rod throughout the country for his political views, and it's no different here.

On Saturday, an 18-foot-long red, white and blue Trump sign on Spruce Avenue was set on fire, police Lt. Robert Gray said.

Is Donald Trump to blame for encouraging the disorder and violence that has broken out around his campaign?

Police responded to the fire at about 12:30 a.m., and are investigating the incident as arson, Gray said. The Bargaintown Fire Company extinguished the fire.

The owner of the sign, who was not identified, said this is the third time it was defaced since it was constructed in late February. Two weeks ago, someone drew pornographic graffiti on the sign.

Anyone who has information that can assist this investigation is asked to call the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau at 609-926-4051.
