Driver issued DUI after crashing into home on Zion Road

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A township woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a home on Zion Road, police said.

At 7:54 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of an accident at Zion Road and Renee Drive in the Bargaintown section.

Police said Christine Adkins, 46, was driving a 2006 Pontiac east on Zion Road when she struck another vehicle in front of her. The impact caused her to lose control of the Pontiac, drive off the road and hit the home.

Adkins was taken into custody by police. She was issued a summons for driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to maintain a lane and was released with a date to appear in court, police said.

The Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company assisted police, and the Egg Harbor Township building inspector responded to the scene to assess damage. Police said the house has serious structural damage.
