An Egg Harbor City man was arrested Friday on child pornography charges and other offenses, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Joseph McCormick, 49, was arrested by members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force and charged with distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, leading a child pornography network, hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence.

On March 20, members of the FBI task force executed a search warrant at McCormick’s residence, Tyner said. McCormick was charged as a result.

The charge against McCormick of being a leader of a child pornography network is a new charge in New Jersey and the first of its kind for the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Tyner said.

The arrest was a result of a joint investigation with the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office High Technology Crimes Unit, Tyner said.
