MILLVILLE — A police patrol car was hit by gunfire Saturday night, but the officer in it was not wounded, police said.
At about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, a bullet broke the passenger’s side front window and then the driver’s side front window of an occupied patrol car in the 300 block of East Vine Street, police said.
The officer was not hit, but was taken to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland for evaluation and released, police said.
Officers found 12 spent shell casings at the scene, police said. The shooting does not appear to have been directed at the patrol car, police said.
At about 7:40 p.m., more gunshots were fired in the 200 block of East Oak Street, police said. Officers found three spent shell casings in the road, but nobody was injured, police said.
