A wet and windy Thursday is expected across South Jersey, with a few rounds of rain, brisk winds, and even a thunderstorm expected during the day.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday for South Jersey, with possible gusts up to 45 mph. The highest winds are expected midday.

Occasional rain and a few downpours will have the capability of producing one to two inches of rain throughout most of South Jersey, with the heaviest rain likely during the morning hours.

There is also the chance for a few strong to severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center(SPC) has placed far South Jersey in a risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday.

The highest risk for severe storms lies to our southwest across eastern Virginia and North Carolina. However, a few severe storms are possible in South Jersey if they can survive the trip across Delmarva and the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.

Cooler and drier weather will follow the rain for Friday.
