VINELAND — A 27-year-old man died Monday after he jumped out of a moving car following a verbal dispute he had with the driver, police said.
At 9:24 p.m., Joseph Gonzalez was sitting in the backseat of a 2005 silver Honda Pilot driven by Vanessa Moreno when he jumped out the driver’s side and was struck by the moving car, police said in a news release.
There was a verbal dispute between Moreno and Gonzalez, who was riding in the back seat behind the driver, before the incident, police said.
Police said Moreno was driving west on East Landis Avenue near the Landis Shoprite entrance when the incident occurred.
Gonzalez was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.
Officer John Gabrielle of the Vineland Police Department’s Patrol Division is investigating.
