EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A 91-year-old man who went missing Monday afternoon was found dead Monday night in a wooded area near his home in the township, police announced Tuesday.

William Froehner, who lived in the Farmington section of the township, was found with the assistance of bloodhounds from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office. Police said Froehner had dementia and had a history of wandering away.

Froehner went missing in September, but was found safe by police, according to previous press reports.

The cause of his death was unknown, but police said foul play was not suspected.

The State Police Missing Persons Unit, State Police Division of Gaming Enforcement and A Child Is Missing Recovery Center also assisted with the investigation.
