A Somers Point man was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, Wednesday morning after his car went off the road and into the woods in Hamilton Township.
At about 8 a.m., Hamilton Township police went to Harbor Avenue for a report of a single motor vehicle crash into a tree, police said.
Fenby Exantus, 21, was driving a 2002 Jeep north on Harbor Avenue, police said. Exantus lost control of his vehicle, left the road and went airborne, police said.
The Jeep overturned and came to rest on several trees, police said.
Firefighters had to cut into the woods to get the car.
Police, firefighters and ambulance personnel got the door of the Jeep open, witnesses and police said. The driver was inside, upside down and restrained by a seat belt, witnesses said.
Exantus was taken to Mainland for injuries sustained in the crash, police said. Exantus was treated and released Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Mays Landing and Cologne fire companies and Township of Hamilton Rescue were on the scene of the crash.
Charges are pending after further investigation, police said.
