Police tape

ATLANTIC CITY — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a Pleasantville man Sunday night.

City police responded to a 911 reporting a shooting in the 300 block of N. Pennsylvania Avenue, According to a news release from Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.

The victim, identified as Jordan Reaves, 21, of Pleasantville, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus and later died from his injuries.

Tyner issued a statement Monday saying Reeves was a suspect in a June 27 shooting that injured two bystanders. Reaves was also the victim of a shooting on Dec. 5, 2018.

“The stark reality is that in most of our recent homicide cases, local law enforcement is finding itself in a race against retribution by the streets,” Tyner said.

The Major Crimes Unit of the prosecutor’s office and city police are conducting the investigation.
