Scene of fatal accident in Galloway

The scene of a fatal accident in Galloway Township on Wednesday morning

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — An Atlantic City woman trying to cross the street was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by two vehicles near Jimmie Leeds Road and Ash Avenue, police said.

Dorcas Frimpong, 52, was crossing the westbound lane of Jimmie Leeds when she was struck by an SUV driven by Zeika Gomez, 39, of Galloway, police said.

The impact forced Frimpong into the eastbound lane, where she was struck by another vehicle, which did not stop, police said.

Police believe the second vehicle was a dark-colored pickup truck.

Students in an Absegami High School bus witnessed the fatal crash, Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District Superintendent John Keenan told parents in an email.

“No students were injured, and the bus arrived safely at Absegami High School. Students reported concerns to counselors and Principal Vernon,” Keenan wrote.

A section of Jimmie Leeds between Ash and Laurel avenues was closed Wednesday morning for the investigation.

Charges are pending, police said. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information can call Galloway police at 609-652-3705.
