The Seaview resort in Galloway Township was placed under lockdown for three hours Sunday night when police responded to reports of a gunman walking through the lobby.
Galloway Police Chief Patrick Moran said the department responded to Seaview at about 7 p.m. after employees called to report the man, who walked through the lobby holding a long gun, possibly a rifle, without speaking to anyone.
He was wearing a hat, and a bandana covered his face. Employees said he was seen exiting the building, Moran said. The man was not located Sunday.
Police officers from Galloway, Absecon, Egg Harbor Township and the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey responded to check the surrounding area. Seaview, which is located on Route 9, was placed under lockdown from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. as police checked each individual room as well as the surrounding areas.
A State Police helicopter was dispatched to search the area.
Police have reviewed Seaview’s surveillance footage and believe they will be able to release a photo of the suspect soon, Moran said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Galloway Township Police Department at 652-3705.
