WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A crash involving a tractor-trailer hauling trash on the New Jersey Turnpike has created major travel delays along a stretch of the highway in central Jersey

The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday near Interchange 10 in Woodbridge Township. Authorities say the truck and a car collided, with three people injured overall.

But the names of the injured and further details on their injuries were not disclosed.

The crash forced the closure two southbound lanes, backing up traffic in the area for at least four miles during the morning commute, and also left piles of garbage strewn along the highway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
