Galloway Township Municipal Complex

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - The township's Planning Board will listen to a proposal to turn a 15.8-acre vacant, wooded area at Moss Mill Road and Pomona Road into a sand mine at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Municipal Government complex.

Ole Hansen & Sons Inc., of Galloway Township, is the company that wants to build the sand mine and will be making a presentation on May 3.

The project's environmental compliance statement said the operation will have no direct or indirect impact on flood hazard areas even though it will require the removal of oak and pine trees.

Adverse environmental impacts cannot be avoided include a degradation of ambient air quality and elevated sound levels, according to the statement.
