South Jersey Gas is simulating a natural gas leak from 10 a.m. to noon behind the former K-Mart building in the shopping center located at 800 East Black Horse Pike, said spokesman Don Woods.

South Jersey Gas is set to begin construction of natural gas mains to about 160 homes in Dennis Township, according to the organization.

The installation is set to begin Feb. 5 and is expected to be completed by July.

The installation of 2-inch, 4-inch and 6-inch yellow plastic mains will take place along multiple roads. Check the South Jersey Gas website to find out which roads.

The news release said there will be lane closings with appropriate traffic control personnel around the work. Some road closures on side streets may occur. Residents and business will still have access to their properties.

All excavations will be restored on a daily basis, and any openings in concrete will be temporarily patched with asphalt until final restoration is complete. Final restoration and paving are anticipated to be completed by spring.

If residents have questions or would like more information about this project, please contact the South Jersey Gas Cape May Division at (609) 465-2900, extension 6250 and reference the South Dennis project.
